Morsø News
News Letter, January 2007
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy New Year!

For Morsø, 2006 has been a really good year with great demand for our wood-burning stoves despite the mild winter. In particular, we have enjoyed very strong demand – not only on the domestic market but all over Europe – for our new stoves: Morsø 8100 and Morsø 6100 with their simple lines and classical design in pure cast iron.

Morsø 6100 series

At Morsø, we experience great interest in cast iron, particularly on account of its excellent heating properties but also because of the designs of our stoves. Cast iron lends itself to creating rustic designs with soft corners and a natural, slightly rough surface, thus easily becoming a natural element of any living room.

Fire correctly – environmental issues are a priority at Morsø

Morsø has taken various specific measures to safeguard the environment.

Moisture meter for wood

Exit gas thermometer

It is quick and easy to check whether the burning process is efficient with proper utilisation of the wood and no soot deposits in the stove and in the chimney. The thermometer is Exit gas thermometerfitted on
the flue duct at eye level, so a quick glance is all it takes to find out whether the stove burns efficiently.

Four ‘fire correctly’ tips:

- Use only clean and dry wood
- Fire only a small amount of wood at
  any one time
- Ensure proper ventilation

Go outside and check – the smoke must be nearly invisible

Over the last few years, we have worked very hard to improve our stoves and they are now approved according to the most stringent environmental requirements in Europe. Moreover, in cooperation with our distributors, we organise practical courses in the correct and environmentally sound firing of our stoves. With these ‘fire correctly’ evening courses, we have reached over 700 users of our stoves. An expert in firing technique from Morsø has been explaining and demonstrating what it takes to achieve the best and most efficient burning process. Morsø has introduced two aids helping users to achieve the very best burning process: a moisture meter and an exit gas thermometer.

Moisture meter for wood

It is essential to use clean and dry wood to achieve an efficient burning process. With the new moisture meter, it is possible to take very accurate readings of the moisture in wood; a moisture level between 15 and 18 percent is preferable in order to ensure an environmentally sound and efficient burning process. If there is too much water in the wood, the burning process is cooled down, leading to poor utilisation of the energy of the wood and unclean burning.

New ash attachment

An improved version of the Morsø ash attachment has now become available. Our ash attachment is fitted with a special filter, which prevents the smallest ash particles from getting into the vacuum cleaner. Thus, users have the option of vacuuming their wood-burning stove or fireplace completely clean – and then just finish the job by emptying the bucket and shaking the filter bag outside. The vacuum cleaner merely provides the suction, and there is no need to worry about cleaning the vacuum cleaner or changing the bag.

New Morsø website

We are very pleased to be able to present our new website at www.morsoe.com.

Our website includes information on different types of stoves, choice of materials, ventilation issues, ‘fire correctly’ tips as well as details on wood-burning stoves and the environment. In addition, there is obviously information on Morsø products, and we also provide the facility to download, for instance, our user guides.

Best regards
Morsø Jernstøberi A/S

The idea behind the website is to create a knowledge base for wood-burning stoves – a place for anyone interested in obtaining information on the purchase and use of wood-burning stoves.
